I began my travel career in 1993 with Mann Travels and have held both leisure travel and management positions in the industry for the past 22 years. Prior to my career in the travel industry, I was lucky enough to own my own business, a floral company called The Potting Shed! Even during my time as a business owner, my passion has always been travel.
In creating itineraries for my clients, I always try to structure things so that my clients can take their time and fully immerse themselves in their destination of choice. Rather than trying to pack all they can into a single day, I prefer to allow my clients the time to stop and appreciate the where they are, and whenever possible, to interact with the local population. I have grown quite skilled in creating itineraries that allow my clients to experience a destination’s main attractions, but also to see what they want to see, while allowing time for the inevitable detours that exploring a new corner of the world will bring.
Africa, in particular, really speaks to me. My first experience in Africa was in Kenya and Tanzania, with Micato Tours. I can still recall the single event that led me to realize my calling as an Africa specialist. Having experienced the beautiful Singita Explorer mobile camp at Grumeti Reserve, I quickly realized that luxury and low-impact travel are not mutually exclusive. There is no greater joy for me than giving my clients the opportunity to experience this firsthand.
